Clear the pistol 1 MIN
Point in a safe direction and remove the magazine before doing anything else.
- Lock the slide open.
- Visually and physically verify the chamber, breech face and magazine well are empty.
- Move all ammunition to a separate work area.
Do not begin until you personally verify the pistol is unloaded.

Field-strip 2 MIN
Follow the Bodyguard 2.0 owner’s manual for the exact field-strip and reassembly sequence.
- Stop at the normal four service groups: slide, barrel, recoil assembly and frame.
- Place parts on the mat in order.
- Do not force a stuck part or disassemble the frame, striker system or optic.
Model-specific instructions always override this general cleaning guide.

Clean the barrel 4 MIN
Work from chamber toward muzzle whenever the tool allows.
- Run one CLP-damp patch through the bore and let it work briefly.
- Make 5–10 full passes with the correct bronze or nylon bore brush.
- Follow with dry patches until they come out mostly clean.
- Leave the chamber and bore dry before loading.

Clean the slide 2 MIN
Use the nylon utility brush and a lightly dampened patch or swab.
- Brush the underside, rail channels, breech face and around the extractor.
- Use CLP sparingly; wipe away loosened residue and every visible pool.
- Keep the firing-pin opening and striker channel dry.

Clean frame & parts 2 MIN
Brush reachable rail surfaces and wipe the barrel exterior, hood, feed ramp and recoil assembly.
- Use soft nylon, patches and swabs—never a sharp metal scraper.
- Do not perform internal frame disassembly for routine cleaning.
- Wipe magazine exterior; keep its interior, ammunition and primers dry.

Inspect & lightly lube 2 MIN
Check for cracks, deformation, unusual wear, rust, loose parts or damage before lubrication.
- Apply only a tiny amount to the slide/frame rail contact surfaces.
- Apply a very thin film to barrel contact surfaces identified by the manual.
- Spread the lubricant and wipe off anything that can run or pool.

Reassemble 1 MIN
Reassemble exactly as shown in the owner’s manual, paying attention to recoil-spring orientation and seating.
- Keep the pistol unloaded.
- Cycle the slide by hand after assembly.
- If anything binds or feels different, stop and check the manual or a qualified armorer.

Final unloaded check 1 MIN
With no ammunition present, complete the manufacturer’s prescribed post-assembly function check.
- Confirm the bore is clear, exterior is dry, and no patch or tool remains.
- Clean the optic lens separately using the optic-safe routine below.
- Wash hands with cool water and soap; change contaminated clothing if needed.
The lube map
A sheen, not a puddle.
A small carry pistol needs very little lubricant. Use the needle tip to place a tiny amount, spread it into a film, then remove visible excess.
Lightly lubricate

Keep dry

- ×Magazine interior, ammo and primersDo not deliberately put oil on cartridges or inside the magazine.

Rule of thumb: if you can see it pooling, dripping, or migrating, there is too much.
Viridian RFX optic care
Dust first. Touch the lens last.
Treat the optic as a separate optical instrument. Gun cleaner belongs on the pistol—not on the lens, emitter, battery compartment or mounting interface.
Verify unloaded.Keep ammunition outside the cleaning area.
Remove loose grit.Use clean air from a hand blower or a very soft lens brush. Avoid canned propellant.
Wipe gently.Use a clean microfiber lens cloth, lens tissue or a soft swab. Never scrub dry grit across the lens.
Use minimal lens fluid if needed.Put a tiny amount on the cloth—not directly into the optic—and prevent pooling.
Verify the dot.Confirm the optic powers on and appears normal. Do not alter windage/elevation during routine cleaning.
Avoid: CLP, bore solvent, aerosol cleaner, sharp objects, paper towels, aggressive rubbing, or liquid around the emitter and battery area.
